Hypnotherapy (or hypnosis) can
help with anxiety and stress, emotional distress, pain
control, migraine relief, irritable bowel syndrome, exam /
interview / driving test nerves, confidence boosting,
insomnia, habit disorders such as weight control, stopping
smoking and nail biting, grief and bereavement, past life
regression (karmic healing), regression therapy (healing the
child within) and phobias. Treatments start at £20 per
session.
What is Hypnotherapy?
During a hypnotherapy session the client enters
a relaxed and receptive state. Your breathing, heart rate
and metabolism all slow down. It is believed that in this
state the mind becomes particularly receptive to suggestion
and is somehow able to exert control over normally
involuntary processes. Usually only light
trances are induced and you remain aware of what is going
on. The aim is to help you gain control over mental
and physical processes. The session usually takes
place in the clinic on a 1-to-1 basis but I may also do
small groups for pain, ante natal clinics or past life
regression afternoons.
What does a
hypnotherapy session involve?
After taking a medical history and discussing
how hypnotherapy may be of use you will be taken
through the following process-
Relaxation
Deepening -
counting you down into an increasingly relaxed
state
Suggestions -
repeating positive statements that relate to
your intended goal
Ending
- counting you back into a fully alert
but relaxed state.
The sessions
normally last an hour to an hour and a half.
One treatment may effect a change, but a short
course of six to ten treatments at weekly
intervals is often recommended.
Hypnotherapy is not suitable for children under
five or anyone with a severe mental illness. It
is not advisable for people with epilepsy
